Medical Psychiatry
The Medical-Psychiatry Unit at St. Joseph Medical Center is an extension of the quality care and support we are committed to providing to our patients. This unit’s patient population includes adult patients with medical or surgical conditions along with active psychiatric symptoms or diagnoses.
Research indicates that when both medical/surgical and behavioral conditions are treated simultaneously, patient outcomes are improved. Our staff, which includes primary care physicians, psychiatrists, masters level therapists, case managers, nurses, mental health technicians and patient care assistants, work as an interdisciplinary team to ensure the expedient stabilization of acute health conditions, followed by referral to the appropriate next level of care.
Services Available:
- Assessment: Thorough behavioral health assessment to determine appropriate level of care.
- Integrated Primary and Psychiatric Care: Full-scale treatment for both medical/surgical and psychiatric complications
- Patient Safety: Staff trained and skilled at intervening with complex medical and behavioral conditions.
Matthew's Hope
Matthew’s Hope offers an inpatient detox program at St. Joseph Medical Center’s Center for Behavioral Health. The program takes a three-tier approach to healing the mind, body, and spirit from the ravages of substance abuse and helps a person get back on the road to recovery.
The founder of Matthew’s Hope, Larry Wedekind, is a successful population health expert in the health care industry who lost his son Matthew to opioid addiction. As such, Larry went on to start the not for profit, Matthew’s Hope Foundation to save lives and bring the promise of sustained long-term recovery to those suffering from Substance Use Disorder. For admission and further information, call 844-AND-HOPE (844-263-4673).
