Looking for a Rewarding Teen Volunteer Opportunity?

High school students can gain valuable experience in a hospital setting by volunteering time through the St. Joseph Medical Center (SJMC) Summer Junior Volunteer Program.

The six-week program is for students ages 15-17 who have an interest in pursuing a career in healthcare. They will support various departments that provide direct and indirect patient care services.

The SJMC Summer Junior Volunteer Program is from June 11 – July 26, with a one-week break July 2-6. Known as one of the best volunteer opportunities in healthcare, the program is very competitive and applications must be received by April 20. Along with the completed application form, students must submit a 500-word essay that describes their goals and interests. Essay topics are listed on the application form.

“Our volunteers help make a difference in the lives of patients and family members at St. Joseph,” said Alyssa Garcia, Human Resources. “Our friendly environment welcomes student volunteers to explore their interests in a healthcare career and to join the St. Joseph family for a very rewarding summer program.”

The application and essay requirements are available at sjmctx.org/volunteers or email [email protected]. For more information, call 713-757-7556.
