St. Joseph Medical Center Announces First “EMS Stewards of the Community” Awards Nominations Due by April 15

HOUSTON (March 25, 2019) – In preparation for National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week, May 19-24th,  St. Joseph Medical Center (SJMC) is proud to introduce the Houston “EMS Stewards of the Community” Awards and is now accepting nominations for EMS providers who go above and beyond in their interactions with St. Joseph patients.

SJMC, a Steward family hospital, will accept nominations of EMS providers through April 15 in two categories: Community/Patient nominations and Peer nominations. The hospital will host an awards ceremony on May 23 to honor selected nominees and announce the winners. “The men and women of EMS display their courage and commitment to patient safety and care every day,” said Kim Bassett, President of SJMC. “This awards ceremony will become an annual celebration at St. Joseph. Hospital staff, community members and their peers will honor their brave work and show our gratitude for being partners in keeping families and communities healthy and safe.”

The “EMS Stewards of the Community” awards express appreciation for emergency medical responders, emergency medical technicians, advanced emergency medical technicians, and paramedics who not only carry out the noble work of caring for others, but do so with a high degree of expertise, professionalism and compassion. Award recipients will be selected by an internal committee of physicians and EMS directors in communities served by Steward.

“Once again, we have the opportunity to recognize the outstanding efforts of the brave men and women of EMS,” said Brenden Hayden, Vice President of EMS at Steward Health Care. “We encourage all members of the Steward family to nominate outstanding EMS providers in their community to thank them for their lifesaving work.”
