HOUSTON (September 8, 2015) – Julia A. Kovacs, M.D., a board-certified specialist in internal medicine, has joined the staff of St. Joseph Medical Center and has opened a new practice – Houston Heights Primary Care. She has more than 20 years of experience practicing primary care and internal medicine in Houston.
Kovacs graduated from the University of Arizona College of Medicine and did her internship and residency at Baylor College of Medicine. Her practice focuses on preventive medicine and the management of chronic diseases including diabetes, thyroid disorders, HIV and hypertension, among others.
“First and foremost, I believe in listening to my patients and then developing a plan of care that addresses their medical needs while also fitting their lifestyle,” said Kovacs. “We strive to make certain our patients understand their medical challenges and know how to follow the treatment plan, so that they can begin a path to wellness.”
Kovacs has also worked in hospice care and did a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Care Medicine. Additionally, she served as the volunteer medical director for women’s health at The Montrose Clinic and was on the board of the Lesbian Health Initiative of Houston, a nonprofit dedicated to eliminating barriers to healthcare and promoting health and wellness in the LGBT community.
Houston Heights Primary Care is located at 427 W. 20th Street. For more information or to make an appointment, call 713-231-1880.
