St. Joseph Medical Center Hosts Workplace Wellness Luncheon Dec. 15; Human Resources, Health and Wellness Professionals Invited to Attend

St. Joseph Medical Center (SJMC) will host a Workplace Wellness Luncheon on Thursday, Dec. 15, for employers interested in starting or enhancing their organization’s wellness program. Human resources, health, wellness and safety professionals should attend this free event to network, gain wellness resources and learn how SJMC can partner with their organization in the coming year.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce released a report earlier this year stating that 87 percent of employers are committed to workplace wellness and 73 percent offer a wellness program. Additionally, 60 percent of employers said that those programs have reduced their organization’s healthcare costs.

“Through St. Joseph Medical Center’s Corporate Healthcare Connection (CHC), employers can access a variety of healthcare programs and resources for their employees, such as assistance with coordinating  on-site health fairs, and screening events and providing flu shot clinics, ” said Annette Garber, director of marketing for SJMC. “Through the hospital’s large network of physicians, we can assist employees, in most cases, with same or next day appointments with primary and specialty care physicians. Through our speaker’s bureau, we have hundreds of board-certified physicians who are willing to speak at health seminars or offer presentations for companies that offer lunch-and-learns and other educational events.”

Unique to the program, SJMC offers access to an innovative non-invasive AngioScreen® mobile screening program that provides important information about vascular health and risk of heart disease or stroke for employees.

Additionally, SJMC offers a complimentary town car service for downtown Houston employees that utilize the downtown campus services and affiliated physicians for convenient access to emergency, routine and outpatient care.

“Many employees are required to take time off to make their medical appointments and much time is spent driving and finding a place to park. Our town car service relieves that extra stress and saves the employee time and money,” said Garber.

The luncheon takes place at the SJMC George W. Strake Building, 9th floor Auditorium at 1919 LaBranch St. from 12-1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 15. Complimentary valet parking is available at 1401 St. Joseph Parkway. To register, visit sjmctx.com/workplacewellness or call 713-756-5051 for more information.
