HOUSTON – The latest in breast cancer treatment options and personal stories from two breast cancer survivors take center stage at the Women of Wellness (WOW) Second Annual “Pink Power” Luncheon on Friday, Oct. 13, hosted by St. Joseph Medical Center (SJMC).
WOW is a health and social program to empower women as healthcare consumers by providing educational information and social events that celebrate women’s roles in their own wellness.
Daisha Hayden, M.D., a board-certified radiologist, will present the latest research and importance of mammography screenings. Melissa M. Joyner, M.D., a board-certified radiation oncologist, will review advancements in breast cancer therapies. Two local breast cancer survivors will then share their personal stories—from diagnosis to present day—to inspire and motivate women to take action in the fight against breast cancer.
Event tickets cost $15 and attendees are encouraged to wear pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Every attendee will receive a $15 gift certificate from the presenting sponsor Lacquer London, an eco-friendly nail lounge.
The event begins with a health expo at 11 a.m. and the lunch program is from 12 – 1:30 p.m. and takes place at the George W. Strake Building, 9th floor Auditorium at 1919 LaBranch St. Free valet parking is available at the St. Joseph Pavilion or attendees can self-park in the West Garage located across from the Pavilion.
Membership in WOW is free and open to all women from 18 years of age. For luncheon tickets, membership or sponsorship information, visit sjmctx.com/wow or call 713-756-5051.
